Geneva overseas office
In order to lead the vehicle safety standards on the global level and improve the international competitiveness of Korean automobile industry, the Korea Internationalization Center for Automobile Standards (KICAS) was established under KATRI. KICAS has a branch office in Geneva, Switzerland where most international discussions and decisions are made. The Geneva Office is at the forefront of international cooperation on vehicle safety and technologies.
By enhancing global cooperation through the Geneva Office, KATRI will help Korean car manufacturers in the international market, boost cooperation on international trade in vehicles including FTA, improve vehicle safety and remove trade barriers. KATRI will also expand the cooperative relations with major vehicle importing countries, rising economies and others by providing education programs designed to meet their needs.

Gimje support center for the self-certification of specialty vehicles was founded in order to support specialty vehicle companies which have to undergo safety testing targeting manufactured and customized cars at KATRI (Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province) since the companies do not meet car self-certification capability.
To reduce the companies’ pressure of travel distance and costs, we will try to foster the base of activation of production and customization of domestic specialty vehicles and take the initiative in win-win cooperation by establishing a self-certification center in Gimje, an area with a concentration of specialty vehicle companies.

In order to solve the problem of excessive repair fees caused by the use of genuine parts when repairing cars, we are implementing the establishment of a support center for the certification of car replacement parts in Hongseong, Chungcheongnam Province for the purpose of activating the ‘car replacement parts certification system’ implemented since 2015.
We will prepare the basis for the activation of replacement parts and contribute to customer’s right of choice through small-mid parts company’s development · support for the certification of replacement parts and follow-up management.

We are implementing the establishment of a support center for the certification of eco-friendly car parts to actively prepare for eco-friendly car manufacturers rapidly increasing demand for certification and follow-up management with expanded supply for eco-friendly cars due to the policy of supplying eco-friendly cars.
We will take the initiative in developing not only the related industry, but also the local industry such as by creating job opportunities through the foundation of the center in the Gwangju area.
